March 1983. A joint SRI / Monroe annex is training remote viewers on Gateway audio. Six sessions. Each one puts a genuine binaural-beat sequence in your headphones, then runs a remote-viewing trial: the target is committed before you look, three decoys are drawn from other categories, you judge blind, and your hit rate is reported against chance with no adjustment.

The memoranda change between reads. The redactions move. Somewhere around the fourth session the program stops being sure what year it is, and a novelist from Fullerton starts turning up in the transcripts.
